Cameron's ribbon award

Cameron's Kindergarten teacher had everyone in the class decorate a turkey for Thanksgiving. A few weeks ago she entered all the turkeys in the Clark County Fair to be judged. Cameron won two ribbons for his turkey that was decorated with all sorts of candy.

Sydney at the Zoo

The preschool classes at my school went to the zoo for a family involvement day. Sydney is in my class, so she went too. We saw monkeys, kangaroos, ant-eaters, zebras, camels, fainting goats(one even fainted while we were there)turtles, joeys, otters, etc. The kids were able to pet all of the animals. One of the kangaroo's even ran and jumped over one of the kids. It was pretty cool!
The best part of the field trip was that it was in Moapa. We only had to drive 3 minutes to get there. Sydney loved looking at the animals, but started to back away quickly as they got closer to her. Lets just say that it was probably a good thing she wasn't the child the kangaroo decided to jump over! The weather started out sprinkling, but ended up being beautiful. We had a good time!

Future Missionaries

When Derek was baptized I got pictures of our own family, but not of the extended family members. I needed more pictures with other family members to make him a baptism book. So, I posed the kids in their suits. They weren't very excited about having to get dressed up in suits and take pictures, but they did it anyway. (Threats work well)
Didn't they turn out cute?

Easter Day

Easter morning the kids woke up to baskets filled with toys and candy. They played with their toys for a while before they had to hurry and get ready for 9 am church. After church we had almost all of Steve's family, and a lot of mine over for Easter dinner. We had ham, potatoes, and lots of yummy salads and desserts. We had an Easter Egg hunt for the kids. Then Steve had the adults and kids hunting for an egg that was supposed to have quite a bit of money in it. When it was found and opened it had a check post dated 2059 for 1 million dollars. My nephew Kaden(the finder of the egg) wasn't very happy with Steve! So, another egg with 20 dollars was hidden and found by Derek. He split the money in half with Kaden to make things even. The kids definitely got their fair share of sugar that day. It was a fun Day!

Carnival Rides at the Fair

The Clark County Fair has come and gone! We went only one day this year. We usually go at least two days, but Steve and I weren't as motivated this year. We chose Saturday to go because Steve wouldn't have to take time off work, and most of his family were coming out that day. It rained almost the entire day. The kids were still eager to go on all the carnival rides in the muddy rain! They had a great time with their cousins! We stayed a whopping 9 hours there! We were all very tired, wet, and muddy when we finally arrived home.

Mutton Bustin

Cameron rode a sheep in the Mutton Bustin Contest. This took place in Logandale at the Clark County Fair. He was against 14 other contestants. He did awesome, and ended up getting 3rd place! His motivation stemmed from seeing a toy gun at the fair that he wanted bad. We told him if he stayed on the sheep, and didn't let go until the 6 second buzzer that he would win enough money to buy the gun. He did exactly what we said. Even though he was sideways on the sheep for the majority of the ride, he held on until the buzzer. He let go as soon as the buzzer sounded! He was awarded 18 dollars and given a Mutton Bustin shirt. They took the top 5 riders from two of the contests to be in the final championship that same evening. Cameron did good, but not as good as the first one. He ended up with 7Th place overall! He was awarded another 10 dollars from that ride. He was very excited to walk away with a grand total of 28 dollars. Immediately after the ride we took Cameron to buy his toy gun. He was slightly excited!

Coloring Eggs for Easter

Last night I helped the kids color hard boiled eggs. They kept taking the same egg and dipping it into all six of the colors. The eggs were definitely colorful! I told the kids we were going to hunt for the eggs. I had each child hide the eggs they had colored. They did a much better job hiding them than I would have done! Sydney(being a girly girl) didn't want her eggs to get dirty, so she hid the basket with all her eggs inside. Alexa was content walking around with her Easter basket around her neck. On the other hand, the boys hid them so well they had a hard time getting to them during the hunt. After all the excitement was over, the kids ate every last one of the eggs in less than 10 minutes. Do you think they like boiled eggs?

Conner's Retainer

Conner has been going to the orthodontist and dentist quite frequently lately. The spaces in his mouth aren't big enough for his permanent teeth to grow. The orthodontist suggested a retainer to expand the spaces. He will be wearing this retainer for a while. After that he will be getting braces! He can't wait for the day he gets his braces on. I don't remember wanting braces as a child. I guess things have changed!

Date Night

Steve and I had a fun date night last week. We went to Danny Gans and Macaroni Grill. We had seen Danny Gans a few years ago, but paid 100 dollars a ticket. This time we got the tickets for free. A few shows in Vegas have been giving away tickets to Police officers if the show hadn't sold out. We lucked into tickets on a night Steve had off. My sisters, Julie and Lisa, watched our kids for us that night(Thanks)! The show was great, and the food was delicious! We had a great time!

Cabin fun with the cousins

We spent some time with my sister's family in Pine Valley at my parents cabin. The kids had fun playing with their cousins. It was nice that their visit fell during our spring break. The kids had a blast digging for worms, and playing with Ali(My mom's dog). My sister is taking care of her while my Mom and Dad are on a mission in Detroit. After leaving the cabin we met for lunch at Olive Garden in S.T. George. We all had a great time!
