Sunday Activities in Detroit

 

 

 

 

We celebrated Father's Day in Detroit. We went to church with my parents, and the kids all decorated a tie for Steve to wear. After church we came home and had a delicious dinner. After dinner we went to the Detroit temple. We walked the grounds and enjoyed the beauty. Then we went to Kensington Park. It is a huge park that is surrounded by a lake. People can fish, picnic, hike, and play on the play ground equipment. It was slightly greener than Logandale!

Corvette Limo

 

 

While we were driving home from Chicago, we saw a Corvette Limo. We had to take a picture, because it was the first one we had ever seen.

Michigan Ave. and ESPN Zone

 

 

 

 

After Navy Pier we took a tram over to the famous Magnificent Mile on Michigan Ave. It is famous for its wonderful shopping in a mile radius. They had many famous stores! Sydney was so excited to go into the Hello Kitty store, and meet her in person. The kids enjoyed going to the ESPN Zone. They had about every type of sports game possible in there. After walking around and eating we were headed back to Detroit. I never did see Oprah's studio. I guess that will be my excuse to go back and visit again. We all loved Chicago!

Checking out of Hotel and Navy Pier

 

 

 

Our last day in Chicago we checked out of our hotel, and drove to Navy Pier. The Pier was a happening place! There were many fun things to do there. The Sears Tower was another cool sight that we saw. It is one huge building!

Chicago Aquarium and Cubs Game

 

 

 

 

The second day in Chicago we had very strange weather. When we woke up it was overcast, but no rain. We went to the Chicago aquarium. It was a huge aquarium! The swimming lizards and snakes were quite appealing to the boys. When we left the aquarium it was pouring rain. We weren't prepared with more than one umbrella, so as you can see from the picture we got drenched on our way back to the car. We had to go back to the hotel and change clothes. We were pressed for time, because we had tickets to the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians baseball game. We showed up 45 minutes late, and the game started about 2 minutes after we sat down. We were very lucky that the game was delayed a while because of the weather. During the game it didn't rain at all. It was an awesome game! It was a tied score, so they had to go an extra inning. The Cubs pulled out a win in the 10th inning. We were all so excited! After leaving Wrigley Field and getting in our car it started pouring rain. I must admit, we lucked out that the weather cleared up enough to see the game. (You can't go to Chicago without seeing a baseball game.)

Lincoln Zoo in Chicago

 

 

 

 

The first day in Chicago we went to the Lincoln Zoo. The Zoo was in a beautiful area of Chicago. It had a few different parks that surrounded the zoo. The monkeys were the highlight of the zoo. We saw a monkey with one arm, swinging and flipping all over the place. The monkeys sure like to show off to their audience. Alexa entertained an audience of people when she started dancing to guitar music that was being played by an older man for tips. I told the man that Alexa could make him a lot of money! We ate at a delicious restaurant called RJ Gruntz. It was just around the corner from the zoo.

Off to Chicago!

 

 

After being in Detroit for a few days, we decided to head 4 hours away to Chicago. On our way we stopped to visit one of Steve's good friends from High-School. She had just had a baby girl a week before our visit. They ordered pizza, so we ate outside and let the kids play in their backyard. It was fun to visit with her family, and see her adorable baby girl.
