Alexa's Hurt Head!

The Sunday following Austin's birth was quite eventful. We were in the process of getting ready for church, when I heard screaming and saw blood. Alexa was chasing Cameron around the house. She slipped and hit her head on the corner of our ottoman. Her head had a pretty good gash, and we weren't sure whether or not she would need stitches. Our neighbor, who is an anesthesiologist, came over and helped. He numbed it with a needle, and used tweezers and sort of a super glue to patch the cut. We were so thankful we didn't have to take the time to go to the hospital!(Thanks Sam)! Life is never boring in the Reese household!

Austin's One Week Old!

We love this boy! It is so fun having a newborn in the house again. He is so sweet! The kids fight over getting to hold him, and I haven't seen any signs of jealousy from any of the kids(Knock on Wood)!

Austin is Here!

Austin Jacob Reese was born on September 15, 2009. He was 3 weeks and 1 day early. He weighed 8 pounds 3 ounces, and according to the hospital he was 20 inches long. He was 21 and 1/2 inches tall at his Doctor's appointment when he was 3 days old. I think it would be highly impossible to grow 1 1/2 inches in 3 day, but you never know. The kids are so excited that he is finally here. I went in at 7:30 in the morning to get induced. The nurse didn't even hook me up to potossin until 9:30. He was born at 1:38 p.m. It was a fairly easy labor and delivery! It's a good thing my Doctor took him early! It wouldn't be fun delivering an 11 pound baby!

Reese Family Reunion at Warm Springs

On September 12th, 2009, 120 people on Steve's side of the family gathered for a reunion. This reunion was held at Warm Springs, which is located in Moapa, NV. Steve's mom was in charge of organizing the reunion this year. We talked her into catering the food, and by the end of the night she was extremely glad that she did. Steve's Mom also made a book with pictures and history of four generations in the Neilson/Reese family. They were looking for a photographer last minute, so I volunteered my brother Justin, and his wife Kayla. They did a great job! These are some of the pictures they took of just our family.

Sydney's Birthday Party!

We had Sydney's Birthday Party a few days after her actual Birthday. She had 15 kids at her party! Sydney is one social little butterfly. She has many friends! She also had two of her cousins from Las Vegas, and one of her cousins from Logandale attend the party. During the party the kids played a few games. The highlight of the party was the bubble gum machine Sydney received as a present. She let all of the kids get gum multiple times throughout the party. We had hamburgers and hot dogs, and cupcakes. The kids also enjoyed watching as Sydney opened all of her presents. She received many fun toys, and lots of makeup. She is definitely a girly girl. Sydney's girl cousins from Las Vegas had a sleep over that night, since we were meeting up with their parents at a family reunion the following day at Warm Springs. When it was time for bed I told them they didn't have to go to sleep, but they couldn't keep coming out of the bedroom. They talked and told stories for hours before they finally fell asleep. They had a great time, and were exhausted the next morning!

Sydney's turns 4 years old!

Sydney turned 4 years old on September 8Th. The morning of her Birthday, Steve and I told her we were taking her to breakfast. Instead, we took her to the Mesquite Walmart and let her pick out a new bike. We also let her pick out a few toys with the money she received from her Grandma and Grandpa Terry, and Great Grandma Terry. She was so excited! It only took about 3 minutes for her to decide on the bike. It had to be the one with pink, purple, and white! She was riding it all through the Walmart store, until one of the workers asked her to push the bike. After Walmart, we headed to the dollar store. We let her pick out party favors to be handed out at her Birthday party. Then we picked up pizza, and headed back home. We got home just in time to get the cupcakes we made to hand out at school, and pack Sydney a pizza lunch to eat at school. She was so excited to pass out her cupcakes at school, and pick out gum from the Birthday bag.

Bus Stop Breakfast

Our neighborhood subdivision has a Back to school Breakfast at the Bus stop each year. This is a picture of the kids on their way to the Breakfast. Our street was in charge of bringing donuts, so Steve picked up Krispy Creme Donuts on his way home from work. Our neighborhood also has a back to school Trick or Treating Day. The families that want to participate put a yellow smiley face on their door. This way the kids know which doors they can or can't knock on. The families give out toys, candy, treats, or back to school supplies. This year we had an ice chest by the door, and we handed out ice cold soda and water. It was a good idea since it was 110 degrees that day. The kids always love the fun activities that are planned for the first week of school!

First Day of School.

I can't believe summer is gone, and school has resumed! What happened to the time? This year Conner is the big man on campus as a 5th grader. He is excited to have Trevor and Drake in his class, which are two of his best friends. He also likes the fact that he has two different teachers for school subjects. One teacher is over Math and Science, the other teaches Reading, Writing, and Social Studies. He has commented to me that it is almost like Junior High having more than one teacher. As you can see from the pictures, the boys kept their promise about wearing their Cardinals jerseys the first day of school. Derek is very excited about this school year. His teacher is his Aunt Becky, and his cousin Mason is in his class. This is the first year Lisa and I have allowed them to be in the same class. So far they have been doing pretty well. Becky was smart to put each of them on opposite sides of the classroom. This will definitely help with the talking! Derek also has Hunter in his class! He is one of Derek's good friends. Cameron is new to Bowler Elementary as a 1st grader. Last year he went to Perkins(Where I teach) for full day Kindergarten. He was a little nervous about finding his class, and knowing which bus to get on. Steve and I took the kids the first day of school, but Conner and Derek have been watching over him since then. He loves his teacher, and has made some good friends in class. Sydney is in my class again this year as a peer model in the Early Childhood Program. She is such a good example for the other kids to follow. When I get new students that are crying because they have never been away from their parents, I pair them with Sydney. After a few minutes they have stopped crying and are very comfortable in the classroom. She takes over as the Mother Hen and they follow her every step. She is in the picture with her good friend Landon. He is also one of my peer models this year.

Chargers and the Cardinals

Steve surprised the boys and took them to Arizona. They went to the Chargers and the Cardinals Pre-Season game. He told them they were having a boys day out in Las Vegas. They were supposedly going to go rock climbing, and to a movie. Steve picked up a couple of his friends, and two of the boys friends before they departed. The boys had absolutely no idea they were going to the game. Conner was so nervous that he wouldn't be home on time to watch the game, that he recorded it on two different TVs. By the time they got to Hoover Dam the boys were a little confused. They kept saying, "I thought we were going to Henderson to Rock Climb." About this time Steve game Cameron an envelope and told him to open it. Inside were the tickets to the game! The boys and their friends were slightly excited! Cameron was the only Chargers fan in the group. The others were die hard Cardinals fans. To make the story short, the Chargers beat the Cardinals 17 to 7. Cameron had to rub it in every one's face! He wasn't silent about his team beating the Cardinals. They were also excited about their hotel room. Steve had upgraded the room to a suite with 2 queen beds and a pull out. When they checked in they didn't have that room available, so they upgraded it and gave them two suites that were attached. The kids had a blast swimming in the Hotel's huge swimming pool. Conner and his friend Trevor were so happy that they found matching Cardinals jerseys. They even planned to wear them to school on the first day. They returned home the night before school started!

Family Day at Warm Springs

My school had a back to school family day at Warm Springs. The kids had a good time swimming and eating. My nephew Mason joined in on the fun! It was a good kick off to start the new school year. It was shocking that my in laws were at Warm Springs at the same time we were. My Mother and Father in Law are in charge of a family reunion that is scheduled to be at Warm Springs in the next few weeks. They drove out to make sure everything was good to go for that. They showed up right in time for the barbecue. They were just as surprised to see us, as we were to see them. They visited with us for a while.

Sydney at Cheer Camp

Sydney went to a cheer camp that was put on by the High School cheerleaders. She loved it! They practiced 3 days in a row, for 2 1/2 hours each day. Sydney unfortunately got the stomach flu one of the 3 practice days, and wasn't able to attend. She was feeling better by the fourth day. which was the performance for parents. It was fun to see how much she learned in such a short time.
